May Storm

Yes, that's snow on the wood shop roof and on the ground.  In May.  At least we aren't having tornadoes.

"Don't knock the weather: nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation
if it didn't change once in a while."
-   Kin Hubbard

The weather has definitely been a topic of conversation along with politics, oil spills and plane crashes.  It's easy to get sucked into the vortex of negativity and fear.  The challenge, then, is how to combat it.

How do you cope with the stresses in your life?  One of my tools is practicing an attitude of gratitude.  By nature I tend to see the glass half empty but when I turn it around I can see the same glass half full.  Having a grateful attitude and a heart full of love helps me to stay out of the dark well of depression and anxiety.  It's a choice, always a choice.

Choose wisely today my friends.

Orange you glad we went to DC?

I wish Buddha was in DC to say:

Be kind.
Practice compassion.
Stop contributing to the suffering of the world.

Maybe the monks said it.

An Arizona blossom

We have two red tulips in our yard right now.  Hardly a spring bouquet!  It's been such a cold spring.

But thanks again to Cousin Ken, I'm posting a lovely macro shot of his.  It's worth enlarging.  I have no clue what kind of flower this is but I'm submitting it to Today's Flowers anyway.

We are leaving for our trip to Alaska on Friday!  There is a lot to do to get ready so I suspect I won't be posting (or commenting) a lot.  When we get back I will have so many pictures to share!  We are all very excited to be so close to departure.  Even if I don't comment, I do check blogs and think of you, my friends.

I hope everyone has a marvelous Mother's Day tomorrow!

Outside Phoenix, Arizona

Last week my husband went to Phoenix for continuing education.  He visited his cousin Ken who took this amazing picture of the desert in bloom.  Thanks, Ken!

I'm headed to Salt Lake City today to bring my daughter home from her first year of college. I was sad when she left.  I'll be happy to have her home for the summer.  Then she'll leave again.

As Robert Frost said:

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life:  It goes on."

Friends, Romans, Countrymen....

Lend me your ears?
What if I  whack one of yours off with my sword?
Stupid community productions.
I'm never doing this with you again.

It's already that time again!
See what everyone else came up with here.
