Spring Equinox

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness...it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair...in short, the period was so far like the present period...." --Charles Dickens, 1812-1870

Apparently it is true: the more things change, the more they remain the same.

Hi MM.... Love that deep purple crocus. Seeing the crocus in bloom always lets me know that it is truly SPRING. AND yes, things do change--yet they do remain the same. The seasons remind us of that!!!!

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful flower! I tried to photograph some purple wild flowers that just started blooming but I just can't get a good shot! I need to go back to my 35mm and leave the digital at home if I want good close-ups.
Nice SkyWatch photo too. Too bad you had grey skys for your tour of the Botanicals.

Good quote! Do you have crocuses already? Not I.

Your Charles Dickens quote really strikes a chord with me today. I've just been thinking of "A Tale of Two Cities" the past couple of days. The purple crocus is truly elegant. And oddly enough, I also just read a definition of the color purple in a book by GK Chesterton: "Purple, at once rich and somber, does suggest a triumph temporarily eclipsed by a tragedy." A deeply philosophical way to start this springtime. This is the kind of thing that makes blogging so fascinating ...
