Playing with a new toy

We had foggy skies mixed with sun, creating some special effects today.

I used Christmas money to buy myself a Canon Powershot A3100 and was out experimenting.  These are basically "blind" shots taken with automatic focus.  My glasses darken with polaroid in sunshine and I could not see the LCD screen at all.

Not a bad little camera!  What I like about it is that I can take it with me because it's little and light.  It's time to have fun and experiment this year.

See spectacular sky shots from around the world at Skywatch Friday.

Oh, I love the llamas, too! And what fun shots, Loran! The Canon Powershot is what I have as well and I love it! Know you're going to have fun now. I'm really excited to have found a great photography class at the North Seattle University and it starts next Saturday, so I'm hoping to learn some new stuff! Hope you have a fun weekend! Stay warm!

A new camera is always fun. I like my little light Sony because it's so easy to bring along.
The llamas are looking good. Love the last shot through the grid with the icicles.

You're going to have fun! Two of my friends have this camera and take great photos. The Llamas look quite pleased with your weather.

I had a Canon PowerShot and lost it in South Africa. Liked it. These look nice and crisp. Have fun with the new toy.

It does a great job, snow can be a challange for some cameras.

Good pictures. It's great to have a really light camera that you can whip out as soon as you see a good shot.

I use a Canon Powershot--it's from 2006 and they've made a bunch of improvements since I bought mine. I love it, because I get great shots with it, but it's compact enough to carry easily. Two limitations though are 1) the macro function is really hard to focus and it doesn't blur the background enough, and 2) the manual focus takes two hands to use, while your third hand holds the camera. But maybe they've fixed those things since 2006? And, of course, even though I love it, now I want a full SLR with interchangeable lenses....But all of those Tanzanian wildlife shots you liked a few months ago were taken with my Powershot!

You took these with your new little camera without seeing anything?! I wish I was that good!
Great job!
