Vernal, Utah

In many ways this could be almost anywhere...old cars, fast food signs, and strip malls but this is the view from the Smith's grocery store parking lot.  I do a lot of shopping at Smith's and spend more and more money there.  I'm not buying more food but the prices keep going up.  It's the time of year where grimy snow piles are melting.  In the spring the city will plant tons of flowers that will be blooming magnificently by the end of summer.  We're not there yet though. It's just that in between time where everyone just wants it to be warm, sunny and green.  We might not be too far away.  We'll have to wait and see.

Vernal is located in the northeastern corner of Utah so we aren't too far from Colorado or Wyoming.  I live 13 miles outside of "town" and 1,000 feet higher at an elevation of 6800'.  We get more snow for longer periods time and a shorter, cooler summer.  As blue skies increase and weather permits I'll share more about our little corner of the world.

For now I'll just slop around in the mud and slush.  WhooHoo!

For other interesting places to see, go to My World Tuesday and dream.

Hey Loran, I love hearing about your town and area. We are 2000 feet up--but you are REALLY up.. It's no wonder you have so much more snow!!!!

Send me your email sometime if you want to. I like to email my comments (from my blog) to those who comment. It's easier for me..

Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Hmm, looks very familiar. I hear you about food prices. Can't believe how much more I spend at the grocery store, and we're not eating any better...

Sounds so familiar! High food prices for sure. Our snow isn't slush yet, though. But maybe by the end of the week!

I'm glad you shared a few "personal" things with us here. Appreciate that. Hope you get your spring sooner than later.

With California's shaky budget and school's cutbacks I am feeing a bit unnerved about my position. So far, so good. In moments of high anxiety I search the National Health Service Corps data base and Vernal is frequently listed as a clincian site. Nice to see the pictures.

The mud and slush sounds all too familiar for thaw weather, it just makes you ppreciate spring so much more when it does arrive.

This could probably be anywhere but my world which is far too small.

You're far away, but your world looks a lot like mine these days.

I'm looking forward to spring. Interesting hearing about your part of the world. I like the way you focused on the part of your world that could be many places.

It's very slushy down here in Telluride, too! I sure hope we get some cooler temps and more snow before all the spring breakers get here to ski.

Thanks for sharing. Vernal rings a bell. I didn't realize it was so high up.

It really is a great place to be. I've been there and seen those beautiful flowers they plant.

Isn't it just the most interesting thing in the world, that things tend to bloom where they are planted.

The visual images that I obtain in my head, from the journals of the folks that settled this area, describe it as a desert valley. Nothing green and growing.

Utah is such an amazing place. Such different views and vistas, completely different from the "Utah" I live in, yet each place is uniquely beautiful.

I am loving this little journey that you are taking us on, and can't wait for more !
