Pasture llamas in the early morning light

Llamas are guard animals and emit a warning call that is really hard to describe.  There's not really anything to compare it to....  Domino is checking out Skipper to make sure he's not a predator.
Apparently Spud doesn't care one way or the other.

We have taken the llamas backpacking into the wilderness but not this summer.  I doubt they mind.  They seem pretty happy to be pasture llamas.

You can check out other interesting living beings at Camera Critters.

I love llamas! They are so important-looking..as if they're saying, "I'm on guard and I'm in charge."

I have always heard that llamas are great animals to own. You have some pretty ones.. Love the coloring of that one (Domino???)

Have a great weekend, Loran.

Gorgeous photos, I love the warm light. And they are adorable too, I've always had a hankering for a llama, but sadly never been able to persuade my mother that our teeny suburban garden would be an ideal llama paddock. ;)

When I taught I so loved reading 'Your Mama is a Llama' to the little ones at school.
Why wouldn't they love being pasture Llamas under that beautiful rural sky. :)
Nice shots!

Llamas are very cool. Usually friendly, except for the spitting, hardy, sturdy and have great warm fur.

They're very noble-looking pasture ornaments. Skipper seems at ease with him. I guess he's not worried about being spit upon.

How wonderful that you have Llamas. They are lovely animals. I came across several on one of our Sunday rides quite a while ago now. A memorable experience and I fell in love with them. Our first two family dogs (when I was a little girl) were called Skipper, Skipper I and Skipper II :)

I love the golden colours you get in the morning light (and afternoon)! You utilised that to your favour :)

4th shot is a beauty - and I think I have to say that you saved the best for last!

Aw, they're cute. I didn't know they were good for security.

So many beautiful llamas! Is it true that the mothers 'hum' to their babies?
Thanks so much for the tour!
