It's cold out there!

Early this morning I should have been getting ready to go to work, but I also needed something for Sky Watch.  Hmmm, I couldn't find anything in Aperture.  I haven't been taking a lot of pictures lately.  So I looked outside my window and there was a pretty sunrise cloud.

And then, oh look!  The sun was shining on my neighbor's house.

Still inside the house, from another window,  I could see further to the west that the the sun lit up Sawtooth Mountain.

Oh, the moon was still up too!  I went outside to take this picture and it was 7 degrees (-13.8C)!  It was cold this morning.

I took one more shot through the trees and ran back inside where it's warm.

I am so incredibly grateful to live in such a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, where it is always magnificent to behold, even when it's cold.

Check out other sunrises or sunsets from around the world at Sky Watch Friday.

You do live in a gorgeous place--happy to run across your blog. The sky photos are stunning. I admire you getting outside when it's that cold!

What a beautiful morning. You captured the best of it. Very clear and cold here, too.

Oh, yes! Such a beautiful morning, in a gorgeous place and you did capture the very best of it! Wonderful colors and the moon! I, too, am blessed to live in a beautiful place and I caught the moon, too -- but just barely!

Have a great weekend!

Glad you took a few moments, they're a beautiful series of photos. Thanks for sharing them, and braving the cold. Is that your nearest neighbour?!

You really do live in a stunning place. With those temperatures it's no wonder you've not hung around to take photos outside - but with the views from your windows there's no need!

Warm thoughts for the weekend xo

Were you singing, "Baby It's Cold Outside?" when you were outside taking pictures. You got some gorgeous ones though Loran.... Beautiful sunrise.

That third shot down is just so incredibly beautiful. I know we all adore the warmth of the sun over a sizzling beach, but for me I like the bleakness of the winter sun.

I'd say you did really well for some "spur of the moment" photos

Ooh boy, that is cold! And the sky does does reflect it, there's always a certain look in the sky that makes you say 'If anything falls, it's going to snow!' I'll have my Skywatch up later on tonight :o)

You are dedicated Loran. Thanks for going out in the Cold for this gorgeous glowing sunrise on your surrounds, which are drop dead beautiful.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement on my "firefly" moon shot. ;-)

Re: closeups. We got a 10X Sony. It's still small enough for saddlebags, and the better zoom really helps.

Absolutely awesome photos of the mountains. Bitter cold is not fun, but cold is.

Coming late to Skywatch this week (life is hectic), and this is a treat. All these gorgeous morning colours, and a moon into the bargain. I'm trying to imagine how cold it must be - we don't get that amount of cold, but you were obviously heroic taking photos outside.
