It's a bird! It's a plane!

It's a spot that won't go away!  Look at the left center, it shows up perfectly in sky shots. Oh no, what about Skywatch Friday??

Perhaps this happened when I was changing lenses in California.  Maybe some sea salt attached itself to the sensor?

I'm going to Provo for my job on Thursday and have a date with the camera repairman.  If he can clean the sensor, great, $45.  If I scratched the sensor by doing a stupid thing like trying to clean it with my lens cleaner and soft cloth, Big Trouble!  Yikes.  Who knew?  I imagine that some of you know not to open up your camera and touch the sensor with anything but a special sensor tool.  If you are ignorant, but not stupid, like me, heed the warning!

In the Coal Miner's Daughter, Loretta Lynn says to her husband, "I may be ignorant, but I'm not stupid."  It's one of my all-time favorite movie quotes.

Thanks to all who appreciate Gary's craftsmanship and furniture.  And, going all the way back to Microfiction Monday, that wasn't my fairy bridge picture that was posted with the story, it was Susan's from Stony River.  She choses the pictures for the week and invites everyone to write their short, short story.

I thought that looked like a Hot-air balloon, Loran..... Maybe the Balloon Boy!!!!! ha ha...

Seriously, I hope you can get it fixed. That can be so frustrating.

Now I know about how the Microfiction Monday works. SO--she furnishes the picture for everyone???? Interesting meme.

Hugs,
Betsy

I will blow the dust off the sensor with a little puffer (like what you use to suction a baby's nose) but I have not gotton up the nerve to use a swab, yet. I have a spot that needs the swab treatment and am trying to build up to it.
Your problem looks like dust, though and a gentle puff might fix it.
The clone tool in elements works well to fix it after the fact.

Good luck!

I have/had a spot on the sensor in my camera. I think I've gotten rid of it, but I still worry, especially on sky shots, that it will turn up. I hope you get rid of your spot.

Oops, sorry about the camera problems. Hope it's easily remedied.

Hi Loretta, I have a spot on my small Sony camera and won't send it in again. I dropped it in 2006 and the repair (which took 6 months) cost me US$160. I have had my Canon lense cleansed because I allowed salt crystals to enter it.Then the ridge of my long lens cracked and I've just collected it. So far that camera has cost me US$558 in repairs alone. I am a lot more careful with it now ;)

Sorry Loran:) I was still chuckling about Loretta while commenting and inadvertantly called you Loretta! Please forgive me. You are not ignorant or stupid. (((Hugs))) Jo

I share your love for that quotation (also like Kathy Mattea's music about coal country).

Hope the sensor cleaning works for you. Salt air & water is bad, bad news--daughter is a marine biologist and even some of the "underwater" cameras don't last long in marine environments.
