The magical northwest

Last week my husband and I took a trip to Seattle, Victoria, British Columbia and the Pacific Rim Forest on Vancouver Island.  It was a trip without children so I called it Celebrating the Empty Nest trip to lessen the blow of both my girls being away at college.  I miss them but I'm excited that they are getting an education.

Anyway, I'm having a hard time keeping up with myself and catching up on everything.  I do have a minute to post some of the beautiful skies we saw in Tofino on a bear watching trip.  More details about this wonderful trip will be posted later but for now, enjoy the play of light in the clouds!

Don't forget to visit Skywatch Friday!

All of these pictures are magnificent! The interplay of mountains, clouds and light is wonderful to see, and the bird in your second picture is a great bonus.

Wow Loran.... Even though it's a sad time, congrats on having both gals in college... You will miss them--but they do need to get their education...

Great trip!!!!! We hope to see Vancouver and Victoria next summer... I want to see the Butchert Gardens and the Empress Hotel...

Keep me posted as to what is good to see in Vancouver.

Thanks.... Great pictures, by the way.
Hugs,
Betsy

Those are drop dead gorgeous! Such mystery. So look forward to more.

Funny how one gets busier in an empty nest than a full one.

Take care.

Incredible and gorgeous, dramatic skies, Loran! And such superb captures! I'm glad you're able to do some really fun things to ease the "empty nest syndrome" that we all seem to experience as our kids grow up. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Look forward to more of your photos!

That second with the bird flying is my favorite - maybe a metaphor for the "empty nest"! Sounds like a spectacular trip - hope you post more photos.

Dramatic - and I wish I was there.
Good idea to go on a trip to lessen the pain of the empty house. I still have one at home, and am not looking foward to her departure in 2 years.
Are both your daughters at the same college, or are you travelling in opposite directions at the start of the university year?
