More ducks

After a trip to New Zealand a few years ago, PD (pre-digital), we returned home and bought some ducks.  We were entertained by a small flock on a south island beach and thought it would be fun to own some.  Eventually we lost them all to coyotes.

My husband decided this summer that he wanted more ducks.  With both kids gone I didn't think it was such a great idea.  I mean, really, we already did ducks, right?

Wrong.

So one duck condo and secure pen later we are now the proud owners of 17 ducks.  I was out there this morning sliding around on water covered ice filling up their swimming pool.  I have a great fear of falling out there without the hope of rescue.

If you can't find me, check out there.

If you fall, will the ducks attack? Or maybe that would only be geese...

Well, they are kind of cute. But why ducks? Please be careful out there. Think about carrying your cell phone so the ducks can call for help.

Hmm, perhaps you should read Russell Chatham's "Dark Waters", the first story is "The Great Duck Controversy"....might give you another take on ducks.

The ducks look as if they are patiently(?) waiting for you to get their swimming pool filled. Just be careful on that ice!

Be careful out there on the ice! I hope you've taught those ducks how to use a cell phone and call 911 on your behalf...
