Fog

92% humidity in the alpine desert during winter is pretty unusual.  We had a week of weather that was damp and cold.  It reminded me of living in Virginia.  When I was a child I stood at the bus stop in ankle socks and flimsy shoes.  I was really happy when we were allowed to wear pants to school!

Small blessings are what it's all about.

Great photo. Very moody. I hope those birds fly south soon.

It is indeed a terrific capture and it is moody! You are having some amazing humidity for your part of the country, Loran! Hope the birds can move further south and soon!! Also hope your weekend is going well. Enjoy!

I don't associate fog with the desert. I really like your picture, though.

Your photo evokes chill, Loren. The flocked birds you captured are wonderful. The photo seems to tell a story of wintry cold.

Great capture! I remember the "Lake affect" in the Chicago burbs also waiting for a bus. Yet layered with snowpants under my dresses and heavy boots. Oh Brrrrr..... what a cold memory. Yea for the removal of a dress code. Stay warm.

Hi Loran, It's great to hear from you. I love 'foggy' pictures... Didn't know you all had much of that there.... (Guess you don't!!!!!)

We have a huge cold front coming through tonight/tomorrow... Frigid temps and snow.... Brrrrrrr...

Hugs,
Betsy

The inversion was terrible here last week, I went up a canyon, and when I came down again I could only see like 10 feet. At first I was really grossed out thinking the inversion had gotten that bad. It was nice when I realized it was actually fog. So, it's been humid here too! At least you guys get to skip the inversion. :)

Is it that unusual? Watching the weather reports, it always seems like Vernal is trapped under icy fog at subzero temps for 2 or 3 months every winter!
