Kenai Peninsula and Soldotna

This is our Chalet, 32' long (9.75m) with two slideouts.  It felt quite spacious and comfortable.

After leaving Portage Glacier we headed west to the Kenai (keen-eye) Peninsula and Homer.  This region is exceptionally accessible by Alaska standards.  Our destination that day was Homer.  Of course we had to stop along the way.

We are here!  After months of dreaming and planning, we stopped for a traditional tourist shot.

There are a lot of stairs and boardwalks along the Kenai River.  Fishing is the major attraction but we didn't fish--too many places, so little time.

Someone else caught a big one.

Can you imagine fishing in a big wooden boat?  No high tech here.

Hi Loran, How many of you went on this trip? So--was the RV large enough? One bathroom????? Yipes!!!! ha

I have always heard of the Kenai Peninsula --but didn't know much about it. Did you all go on up to DeNali??? That's one place where I definitely want to go.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy

How nice to visit Alaska. My nephew and wife lived in Soldotna for 15 yrs. and my sister Cher and hubby lived at North Pole. Have a great trip and do you get to salmon fish or is the run over?

Nice looking RV and what a great way to travel.

How hard was it to drive and park the RV? I've always thought they look like fun and have been tempted to rent, but I feel intimidated by driving such a monster and maneuvering around campsites and gas stations and parking lots

Looks lika e very nice vehicle to get around in. I hadf a smallaer one of those some years ago and I enjoyd the freedom of it, just go anywhere you like and the home is with you. stop anywhere for food and sleep, a great vacation but it takes lots of time as the stops are many along the way
