Home on the Range?

Oh, the things I'll do for a blog these days.

I headed to town on my way to work with my camera.  I don't usually take my camera with me, but now that I have the fever for posting on My World Tuesday,  I thought I'd change my ways. As luck would have it, there was a cattle drive right down the middle of the road.  It's not an unusual occurrence and I have seen many of these in my pre-blogging days, but this was an opportunity.  There was a "cowboy" on his horse and another one on his four wheeler (quad).  I knew I could possibly be subject to ridicule.  "Sho, nuff." I got out, shutter blazing, and they started laughing at me.

I wanted to tell them that I was not a tourist and I had certainly seen cows before and didn't they know about blogging?  But I didn't.

I did get back in the car though.

The trick to getting through is just keep driving and let the cows move out of the way.

I swear this cow is not photo-shopped into the picture.

Hi MM, Oh the joys of living in Utah... My parents lived in a small town in VA. The town (in the '30's and '40's) allowed the cows to roam freely.. I was born in 1942--and I don't remember that (since the laws changed sometime in the '40's, and cows weren't allowed to roam)... Can you just imagine????

Glad you had your camera... Does this happen frequently out there??? Were they just 'crossing' the road??? I guess it is 'their' land!!! What a great post.

By the way, I added you to my list and hope you will add my blog.
Hugs,
Betsy

MM: Those are some neat photos, my wife ask if I have to look like a tourist at times. She knows why I'm taking photos but likes to tease.
Thanks for sharing your world. The closest I've come to this is a couple of horse riders on the road.

Glad you had your camera. I can just imagine the cowboys snickering at the tourist lady. Little did they know that these pics were to bring you internet fame!

The photo of the cow is awesome, I am just catching up on sky watch, so popping in for a look.

I am glad you had your camera and when they find out about blogging they will take their camera with them everywhere.

I know the feeling, I normally want to tell people "I'm not a tourist, I'm a traveler and that's completely different." The quote you have in your header is one of my favourites too, not surprisingly.

Ah, who cares what others think! Especially if you are enjoying yourself, and if you are enjoying taking the pictures to bring back to your blog and share, then thats all that matters! Poo poo on those cowboys!
Wonderful shots by the way! I love that last one!
