OK, is this not one of the funniest beaks you've ever seen?

How do these birds fly so close to the water without just falling in?

Great bird shots and I love the light through the unbrella.
Nice birds. Really like the Pelican.
Great bird shot. I checked my field guide and I believe the first photo is a Whimbrel. Great sighting. I love the Pelcian shot too.
Why yes, it is quite the funny beak! I just love seeing shore bird photos as I love the Pacific coast, where I grew up. I last visited in Sept. and miss it already. But, it's 1,500 miles away! Very nice photos, thanks.
Awesome beak on that bird! I really enjoyed looking at it.
I starteled a deer! Look at that tail!
I love the last shot!

I love shore birds -- so many different kinds.
Not so colourful, but interesting nonetheless!
Great bird shots. My husband always wants to go and shake hands with birds with a beak like that.
Love those shore birds, Loran.. You got alot of great pictures of them.
Hugs,
Betsy
I haven't seen birds burrow in the sand like they are in your last picture. Very interesting. I also like the beak on the bird in your first photos.
MM: Those are some neat shot of the shore birds. I really enjoy seeing them.
That beak is incredible! What kind of bird is it?
