More birds

OK, is this not one of the funniest beaks you've ever seen?

How do these birds fly so close to the water without just falling in?

Great bird shot. I checked my field guide and I believe the first photo is a Whimbrel. Great sighting. I love the Pelcian shot too.

Why yes, it is quite the funny beak! I just love seeing shore bird photos as I love the Pacific coast, where I grew up. I last visited in Sept. and miss it already. But, it's 1,500 miles away! Very nice photos, thanks.

Great bird shots. My husband always wants to go and shake hands with birds with a beak like that.

I haven't seen birds burrow in the sand like they are in your last picture. Very interesting. I also like the beak on the bird in your first photos.
