August 28, 2010 - a Saturday afternoon

Summer is almost over, unfortunately.  I have been enjoying the warm weather.  Today we are having erratic weather.

It started with dark clouds.

The wind blew and pea-size hail came down.  My husband was moving llama manure with his tractor. I was opening and shutting the gate.  We ended up under the shelter with the llamas, too bad I didn't have my camera then.

The llamas went back out in the pasture and I got out my camera.  Then I started thinking.

It's been awhile since I just took shots around the property.  It's going to be winter soon.  It's a good thing we're getting ready for it.

Our neighbors are cutting, splitting and stacking wood for us.  It's not a service project, we're paying them, but they're doing a fantastic job for us.

The llamas have hay for the winter.

Wally's grateful!

The flowers will fade soon.

But not yet.

The hail hit the petunias a little hard though.

The neighbors came back with another load of wood.  And then it rained again.

Just a little glimpse into My World here in Utah!

Ah, it's hard to let go of summer, isn't it? I know I have to remind myself that every season has a beauty of it's own -- sometimes we just have to look a little closer. Hope you and your family and the Llamas have a great week, Loran! Enjoy!

Hi Loran;) You've had a wonderful summer, so it's difficult to go into winter again. You look organised with the wood and the hay. We (in North Africa) are also entering winter for which we are TRULY grateful. The horrific heat of summer is almost over. And when we visit South Africa at the end of October, spring will have sprung and summer will be on the doorstep. The best of both worlds. Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing your world. (((Hugs))) Jo

Hi Loran, That reminds me that we need to order our wood soon. We get our wood a year ahead of time --and then it's good and 'ripe' by the time we use it... Looks like you are getting a great supply...

You had quite a storm, didn't you???? Glad you had a place to go for shelter from the hail... We are beginning to have some Fall weather ---but it's still dry here. Soon---I'll be raking leaves.

Thanks for the look around your property ---before the first snow... Yipes!!!!

Anything new on the grant?
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Loran, We're all singing the same refrain! Do you think your Wally is related to my Waldo? My son is taking a wilderness survival course this week in Escalante - I hope the weather you had didn't reach him!

Sure is looking like Fall on the way, here also but no hail. Good to be getting plenty of wood in.

I don't think I'm ready for hail storms quite yet, although I am envious of your wood pile.
Enjoy summer as long as you can.

Hey there! So good to hear from you and to have this glimpse into your beautiful world! Have to say, my favorite line is "my husband was moving llama manure with his tractor." I mean, how many people can say that?

I cannot believe summer is fading ... where did it go? And my girl is in kindergarten!!! Lots of adjustments here. All good!

I hope to sign up for goddess circle a little later on in the fall. I am in an ongoing painting course (BIG on Dirty Foot Prints Studio) and will be in Unraveling 2, so need to make some $$ to pay for my online habit! But I am missing goddess circle; i've actually started up with a version of the radiant goddess food plan (a green drink a day!) and am feeling so much better! i need to do that course again. i will look for you when i enroll!

I'm always so sad to see summer go, they just aren't long enough for me here in slc. We had the same storm you did, with hail and lots of thunder. It was pretty cool. Your picture of those clouds is impressive! Those are some serious clouds.

I love the light in the third photo.
Would've been interesting to see photos when you and hubs were crowded into the llama shelter with the critters!
