Home Sweet Home

This is the front of our house.  I like to call it "nouveau farmhouse style" because it kind of looks like a farmhouse but it has high tech windows, blown insulation and steel siding and roof.  Brogan is the guard dog.  The window above the garage is my blogging room with a view.

We park the flatbed trailer in the llama pasture to make more room for car parking in the driveway.  See the woodpile?

Here's a little piece of that woodpile. I hauled in wood on Saturday.

These pictures are perhaps a little mundane but this is my world, where I live, where I spend a lot of time and I truly love it here.

Anais Nin said, "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

This is how I feel about blogging memes and making new friends through blogging, that a new world has been born out of my world because it is now seen through different eyes.  Sometimes I will post a picture or say something then find a surprising comment that is like a little revelation.  I like thinking that our connections are creating a new, friendly and encouraging world.  I also enjoy viewing blogs from around the world and learn something new from that as well.

This morning's view from my room is beautiful.

Thank you to all my creative blogging friends!  And thanks to Janie of Utah for saying, "You should start a blog..."

Mundane depends on what we're used to - I'm not used to farm houses looking that, or the scenery, so I think its interesting. I never thought to take pictures of my hometown to China cos to me it was so mundane and boring, but my students were fascinated when I showed them images I'd purloined from the internet. In turn, they were befuddled by me taking pictures in the market.

Oh so much space - lucky you! Blogging is a bit like going abroad - you come back and look at your country through fresh eyes. It's so interesting to see your house and view, which are totally exotic to me!

A very thoughtful post. Yes, blogging opens a new world and new relationships that I have come to cherish.
On another note, the woodpile is a part of rural life. At our cabin, wood is the only source of heat. Since we are there only late spring to early fall I can indulge myself and split the needed wood by hand. It upsets some of my male neighbors (they think I need help) but I truely enjoy the process. Most of my neighbors use a splitter, a necessity when there is a great deal to be split.

Why, you're welcome, Mountain Mama! It's been a fun year. I look at things differently, too, when I'm planning to share them. I think blogging has made me more observant. And of course it's lots of fun to meet other bloggers and learn about their worlds.
You have a lot of wood to burn! You'll be warm no matter what.

I think your home is great. I love the log pile. For a time we lived in the White Mountains of Arizona and used firewood to heat the house.

Some people see a fire and think all sorts of warm happy thoughts. My muscles start aching from the memories of the hauling the logs to the house, cutting, splitting, and stacking the wood and then hauling the wood from the stacks to the house every day.

Give me a gas log!!!

Just kidding.

Hi Loran,
Wanted to comment here, though I love your blue sky, llama, and barn photos, too. We sure enjoyed our week's journey through parts of your world - we were in SLC, Park City/Canyons, and Boulder (Escalante Wilderness). What a beautiful state you live in! Looks as though you'll be toasty warm when the snow starts to fly. Yes, blogging is a fun way to "travel" all over the world and meet lots of interesting folks - yourself included.

Oh, I love the way your house looks! It’s really amazing! I’m always fascinated with a simple farmhouse that has very hi-tech facilities. It feels like living in the city while you’re in the country side! Anyway, I’m glad that you chose to have steel roof and sidings. Aside from affordability, steels are also known for its durability and low maintenance.
