As a surprise for my 50th birthday in 2003, my husband booked our family on a trip to French Polynesia! I had always dreamed of going to Tahiti and that year my dream came true. I was surprised how "civilized" it was there. I must have thought it would be similar to Paul Gaugin's experience but really it is set up for tourism. We flew to Tahiti and then sailed on the Tahitian Princess.
The beaches were pristine and the water was perfect for snorkeling.
Ah, blue water and gorgeous skies.
Lush green vegetation covered the islands
Beautiful flowers bloom all year long.
Sail away anyone?
Look for other dreamy skies at Skywatch Friday.

Beautiful photos of Tahiti, what a nice surprise from hubby. Beautiful skywatch photos!
Gorgeous captures and I bet they surely look better than what you see out your windows today!! What a delightful birthday present. And what a wonderful place. Reminded me of the beaches in Cozumel, Mexico and how wonderful the snorkeling was there. Great post for the day, Loran! Have a beautiful weekend!

I'll sail away! Tahiti has an appeal to me, too. I don't think it will happen for my 50th birthday, however. Need to think about that one!
These pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I would love to be there now, soaking up a warm sun. That certainly was a wonderful birthday present.
Hi Loran, What a neat way to spend a birthday... That cruise would be wonderful --especially now that it has been so dreary here...
Will he take you again when you turn 60??????
Hugs,
Betsy
What a great BD present. Looks so warm and inviting on the crisp morning. Haven't done a cruise or visited islands, yet.

Breathtaking!
As a hydrologist (and one in Florida no less), I approve of these photos. It's been cold here recently so the warm weather water shots are especially so ...
These are perfect photos to look at on a cold day like today! Let's all be in Tahiti (mentally, at least) today!!!
