You know you're a redneck when......

Loading ATV's for our camping trip has been a huge issue.  Two years ago we took two trucks and pulled one camper and one flatbed trailer with the four wheelers (quads).  The bikes are the best means of getting around in the Big Horns.  The roads are very rough in a truck.  OK, yes, this is embarrassing American excess at its best.  What can I say?  Happy 4th of July!

This year we are minus one truck but we still wanted to take the four wheelers. How to do this has been a topic of major conversation for weeks.  Gary's cousin Ken came up from Phoenix to help us out.  I won't bore you with the details, but this is what the boys worked out.

The girls want to know how we are going to get them out of the truck and then back into the truck when we have to leave......

Stay tuned!  We'll be back in a couple of weeks.

How hooked am I on pictures and blogs to post this before we leave in the morning??

Funny! I, too was wondering how the heck you're going to re-load those things without a front end loader, or whatever that is that's doing the loading.
You guys should really try horses. They load themselves!

OMG, what a great idea. Now you'll have to take another truck and flatbed trailer to haul the front end loader. I think Janie has the right idea about the horses.

Have a great time.

Oh I loved that you posted this before you left! Wonderful feat of engineering loading the quad but as you have all said, "what about when..." I agree, use horses. Enjoy your trip all the same. (((Hugs.)))

Too funny, Loran... I want to know the same thing you asked... Take pictures when you unload and then load them back!!!!!!!

Our men always have such 'clever'???? ways of doing things, don't they???? ha

Have a wonderful trip and Happy 4th.
Hugs,
Betsy

What an amazing undertaking. Not easy at all. Very ingenious. Just gotta ask though, is that cool tractor gonna go along with you to help unload?

Great post! I am looking forward to seeing what the resolution will be. Perhaps the boys will be riding the 4 wheelers home?

Tell me about it. There I was at 1 a.m. on a trip to Portland ME and the only vehicle to rent was a Ford F-150 with full cab...

Many "elk hunters" here have infernal ATVs (they don't kill many elk, but do seem to enjoy tearing up the countryside) and carry various sorts of ramps to load them.

Sorry if my biases are coming through, but as an elk hunter and habitat advocate I've seen an awful lot of country ruined by off roading.

Hi, I'm back. I would love to pass along the Honest Scrap award. Here is my "official" speech:

The Honest Scrap is one of my favorite awards circulating in the blogosphere. I enjoy it because it gives the blog writer a chance to share some little known facts about theirself. Please accept this award, drop by my blog to check the rules and have fun passing it on.

To funny! As Larry the cable guy would say... Git-R-Done
and you did a great job of it!

But I bet you felt a great sense of completion to have done your post before leaving.

I have to admit I didn't quite follow all the elements in the loading sequence. As for unloading, it's probably one of those Unaskable Questions.
